Lovely layers
Sarah loves spending time in her family room but on cold winter evenings it could feel a little chilly compared to the rest of the house. Kendra Linen curtains layered over Serenity Chalk Voiles are the perfect year round duo. The sheer Voile fabric reduces the glare from summer sun, while lined curtains provide extra insulation in the colder months.

Hillarys have helped this space feel much warmer and cosier, we love our evenings in here.
Spring layers
We all know how unpredictable British weather can be, so for flexible light control throughout the seasons, think about teaming sheer Voiles with curtains. In summer, the Voiles allow light to gently filter through your window while maintaining daytime privacy. In the evening and during cooler months, your curtains will add an extra layer of cosiness.

Warm glow
Draughty bifold doors left Soozi feeling chilly in her dining room. Thermal lined curtains in Wirl Kiwi add the layer of insulation she needs to keep out the winter chills, while sheer Voiles and semi sheer skylight blinds help diffuse the sunlight to create a warm glow throughout the space.

Tips and tricks
Doors and wide windows are usually found in homes that enjoy fabulous views. If you're lucky enough to own such a home, fit your curtains so that they don't obscure the great views. By fitting a curtain pole that extends beyond the door or window frame, your curtains won't cover any part of your window when they're fully open.

I’m so pleased that I brought in the Hillarys experts for peace of mind rather thank DIYing them myself!
Serene sheers
These sheer Voile curtains in Lyndsey's dining room beautifully complement the vibrant colours on the walls and in the accessories. A stylish solution for French doors, sliding doors and bi-folds, Voiles create a striking finish without taking away from the view. They're ideal for dining areas and other rooms that are overlooked, as you can keep them closed during the day for much-needed privacy and they'll still let in plenty of natural light.

Pink house living
“Florals aren’t just for summer! Case in point: my Hillarys’ kitchen blinds and curtains made from Delizia Blush fabric – it’s a beautiful pale oyster background with blush-pink sprays of flowers which feels fresh and bright for spring/summer. But in the winter the luxuriously thick fabric adds to the cosiness and keeps the heat in the house, while the soft hues brighten dark nights and look lush in the glow of scented candles.”

Dress your doors
Whether you've got French, sliding, patio or bifold, fully-lined curtains are a lovely option for providing a snug and cosy atmosphere at your doors. Heat escapes from many homes via the front or back doors, so drawing curtains over these areas will help prevent any draughts. They're also a great blackout solution if your doors are letting in too much light. Add a pair of Voiles for a statement look that gives you flexible control over light and privacy plus an extra layer of insulation when you need it most.
A little balance
Not enough space to hang curtains either side of a door? Try having one wider curtain that pulls completely to one side to create clear access to the outdoors during the day, and pulls closed to create a wall of warmth at night.

The flower effect
The positive effects of flowers for wellbeing are well storied, so bring home the blooms and set the tone for spring with a floral window dressing like these pretty curtains in Livia Sorbet.

Doubled up delight
"Our living room bi folds look out onto a very sunny south-facing garden, so the room is filled with lots of light. I wanted window treatments that allowed the light to come in, but didn’t detract from my decor style. I knew I didn’t want blinds. I really love voile panels, but also want to be able to keep in the warmth during winter months."

"I fell in love with a textured voile in a neutral bone shade, combined with blush pink curtains."
Haze Inkwash curtains
A wave header style is an excellent choice for wide windows, social spaces and any windows that have limited wall space either side. The soft folds create an informal relaxed feel, and when open create a really neat stack that pulls right away from the window

Space to focus
Soozi had previously avoided sitting in this space for longer than was necessary, especially during the winter months as the draughty bifolds and big expanses of glass left her feeling cold and unmotivated.
Now, these thermal lined curtains add the layer of insulation she needs to keep out the winter chills, while sheer Voiles and semi sheer skylight blinds help diffuse the sunlight and minimise glare on Soozi's laptop screen so she can work in comfort.

Misty waves
Made-to-measure curtains offer a bespoke finish, and the style of curtain header you choose makes a big difference to the way your curtains drape at the window and how well they fit in with the rest of your décor. Wave header curtains offer contemporary looks and a neat and stylish finish. This type of header needs to be fitted to a special wave track, which is slim and discreet. The overall appearance of this curtain and track combination is simple and contemporary.

Open spaces
Impressive features to any room, beautiful bay windows allow you to enjoy panoramic views and flood your home with natural light. But when it comes to dressing, bays can be a tricky shape to work with. Acting as a frame for your window, curtains are a brilliant choice whether you want to go bright and bold or contemporary and understated with your décor.

Inspiring spaces
We’ve chosen curtains in Pantara Phantom to keep this open plan kitchen feeling light and airy. Curtains are a great solution for large expanses of glass like this, helping to keep cold draughts out in winter, and reduce the amount of heat getting in when the sun is shining in summer.
