Ellwood Iron Grey
Wooden Blinds
Grey is a colour that shows no signs of fading in popularity with interiors experts, and with shades such as our new wood blind in Iron Grey it’s not hard to see why. It’s a grey with a touch of black to it, so it’s the darkest of the three greys in our new collection and this addition helps keep it just nudging over the midway line in terms of temperature, stopping it being cold which some darker greys often are. Depending on how you style it, you’ll be able to make it work in either contemporary or classic settings, such is the versatility of this deep shade and if you want to keep it warmer and away from the cool grey vibe then avoid placing too much metallic in the room, especially silver, as this will pull it back to cool. If you can’t live without a little metallic, then veer towards the darker tones of pewter or, better still, forged iron and you’ll keep that warmth.

- Cleaning Tips
-
Close your Wooden blinds and tilt the slats downwards until flat. Wipe over with a dry, clean cloth to remove dust and debris, before tilting the slats upwards and repeating. Any stubborn marks should be lightly buffed with a damp cloth – bear in mind any excess moisture or excessive rubbing may damage the wood.
- Child Safety
-
All Hillarys products conform to European safety legislation. When you buy a Wooden blind, your Hillarys fitter will also install a discreet little cleat or hook for the cord to wrap around, so there are no loose cords. These are fitted at a minimum height of 1.5m above the floor. Having a safety device is a legal requirement even in homes without children.

Which windows suit Wooden blinds?
Wooden blinds are a practical and stylish solution for any space. They can be made to fit narrow and wider windows, with a choice of slat widths designed to match the scale of your window. As the slats are horizontal and straight, they can’t be made to fit around sloping or shaped windows – Vertical blinds would be better here.
Can I have them in my bathroom or kitchen?
Like most wood products, humidity and moisture can cause Wooden blinds to warp or fade in colour. Instead, we offer a range of Faux Wood blinds, which look like real wood but are designed to withstand steamy or damp environments such as kitchens and bathrooms.
What colour options are available?
Our Wooden blinds are available in a range of painted pastel shades and natural wood stains. You can also choose a matching valance in the same shade to conceal the headrail, plus add coloured tapes and other accessories to complete your look.
Are Wooden blinds blackout?
Wooden blinds will dramatically reduce the amount of light coming into your room. However even when the slats are tilted until flat, there may still be small gaps between them or around the edges where light may leak in.
